Community Focus Day Dress Code
Community Focus Days usually occur once each term and form a core part of service at St Peters.
Historically, the focus of these days has been simply to raise money for a charity. Equally, if not more important, is the education of the school community about the problem the charity is responding to, in order for students to learn from their experiences about the multi-layered problems associated with justice issues, which are not simply solved by raising funds.
From time to time, a planned activity as approved by the Springfield Leadership team may invite students to wear plain clothes.
Normally a charge is imposed, with monies raised being used for various projects as determined by the term focus.
Students are to present themselves in a manner which ensures uniform and items of casual dress are neat, in good repair and clean, and have appropriate clothing for classes on these days i.e. appropriate footwear for Science/Technology/HPE.
Guidelines for a Uniform Free Day include:
- Jeans for Genes Day – grey skirt for girls and grey trousers for boys may be replaced by a pair of blue jeans.
- PE Uniform (may include the senior jersey or a ‘club jersey’ day from an AFL or NRL club).
- Crazy Hat, Crazy Tie Days – normal school uniform is to be worn to and from school with the different hats and ties being worn on school only.
- Specific colour day – e.g. one pink item of clothing to be worn in support of breast cancer research. Normal school uniform is to be worn to and from school.
In keeping with the College’s SunSmart policy, students are to wear hats at all times whilst not in shaded areas on and around the school grounds. Students must wear enclosed footwear.
The College reserves the right to determine inappropriate or unsafe attire and will take appropriate action for a breach of this code, including providing alternative attire or where deemed necessary, sending a student home.
The College reserves the right to cancel scheduled Community Focus Days.
